You are in

Getting started.

One link, on your iPhone. It installs TestFlight — Apple's own app for trying software before release — and then Caddora through it. Five minutes, and there is no rush.

Installing

Three steps, in this order.

  1. 01

Open the link on your iPhone

Tap the TestFlight link in your approval email, on the iPhone you will be testing on. Opening it on a computer does nothing useful.

It needs an iPhone 12 or newer.

  2. 02

Install TestFlight if you do not have it

The link sends you to the App Store to get TestFlight first — it is free and made by Apple, and it is how Apple distributes apps before they are released. Install it, then tap the link again.

  3. 03

    Install Caddora

Tap Accept, then Install. Caddora appears on your home screen like any other app. Open it from there, not from TestFlight.

If the link will not open

Almost always it was opened somewhere other than the iPhone you are testing on — a Mac, an iPad, or a browser that is not Safari. Open it on the phone. If it still will not go, the phone may be older than an iPhone 12, which this build needs. Either way, tell me — [email protected].

Before anything else works properly

Set yourself up.

Your profile

Age, sex and handicap. Caddora compares you against golfers on those three, so a made-up handicap gives you made-up comparisons.

Your bag

The clubs you actually carry. You can type distances in by hand — they do not have to be accurate yet.

Reporting something

Tell me at the time.

Anything broken

Take a screenshot inside Caddora, then close it. iOS offers to share the screenshot with the developer through TestFlight — scribble on it and add a note. That comes straight to me with your phone and the build attached, which saves us both a conversation.

From inside the app

Profile → Report a problem. Pick the area, say what happened, attach up to three screenshots. Your device and the build go with it automatically, so you never have to find your build number.

Anything else

Confusing, slow, wrong, or an idea — email me at [email protected].

Crashes are sent automatically — you do not need to report them, though it is useful to know what you were doing at the time. And the small irritations are the ones I cannot see from here, so please do not save them up.
